Last week, at a shoot for Bust Magazine I connected with a client over (of all things) a scar. It seems that Freddy Rodriguez and I have almost the exact same scar in almost the exact same place from having had the chicken pox.

He actually pointed it out – Which is really bananas since I notice everything about faces almost immediately (He also thinks I look like Demi Moore – isn’t he a doll?). And the timing couldn’t have been better. You see, I’ve hated this scar since getting over the ‘pox’ and I’ve always told myself that at some point I would have it lasered or whatever. But, laser is EXPENSIVE. And, you take a chance that you still might have a scar – just a flat scar instead of a depressed hole (which for me, happens to be conveniently located right in between my eyes).

Anyway just a few days before this shoot I went out and purchased this over the counter pock mark filler.

It didn’t work and was a big waste of money (OK, that’s an exaggeration it was only like 20 bucks, and for real I don’t know why I thought it would solve all my problems at that price point) and I want to return it but I don’t want to be that crazy customer who is all like ‘OMG I WANT MY MONEY BACK EVEN THOUGH I USED HALF OF YOUR PRODUCT BECAUSE IT DIDN’T WORK AND I’M MAD. BUT WHAT I’M REALLY INFURIATED OVER IS THAT I STILL HAVE THIS SCAR AND I’M JUST BEING DIFFICULT TRYING TO MAKE A RETURN AS A WAY OF WORKING THROUGH IT AND MY UPSETTED-NESS (yeah, I made that word up. what?) AND REALLY ONLY HALF OF MY UPSETTED-NESS HAS TO DO WITH THE BUM PRODUCT AND THIS IS REALLY ABOUT ME NOT BEING HAPPY WITH ME AND MY STUPID SCAR FROM THE ‘POX’ THAT I HAD WHEN I WAS ELEVEN AND THE DEPRESSED MARK IT LEFT ON MY FACE AFTER I TWIDDLED WITH THE SCAB WHILST WATCHING ALADDIN’

And, shame on me for always having to touch EVERYTHING. Including ‘pox’ scabs. God. I’m gross.

I know ya’ll understand my plight. And, although I think it’s lovely that it connected me to the person in my chair (My job is all about bonding with the client and he was so super nice and real and I think he’s awesome), I want this thing GONE.

So, I’m exploring ‘filler’ options. I hear there’s been a lot of success with people using Restylane to fill acne scars. And I realize I’m talking about a ‘pox’ scar right now, but I am wondering if it would help with my situation.

Anyone, thoughts?

Have any of you used a filler for a scar??? Did it work? And, for how long did you see results?
