Brenda! Kelly! CLEAN & CLEAR!

Thursday, January 8th, 2009 | Skin Care | 1 Comment

I know the new 90210 is really about the kids and I LOVE the Annie/Naomi bitchfest – But, every time I watch it I’m overjoyed to get a little fix of my favorites, the original frienemies: Brenda and Kelly.

Now, I’m not making any promises here…And I have no idea who is going to be featured in the episode about THE PROM…But, there’s an opportunity to win a walk-on role on the Prom Episode of the CW’s Hit Show!!!

The good people at Clean and Clear are giving you the chance to be the envy of all your friends.

The catch is: This is only open to teens (You’re very lucky I’m not a teen, which means you don’t have to worry about me entering and WINNING and you LOSING – Mmmhmm.).

The best part about this for all you beauty lovers?  The winner will receive a year supply of clean & clear AND on-set VIP treatment including hair, make-up, and styling!

We all know that make-up only looks good if your skin does too – So, that year supply of clean & clear is a pretty sweet prize that guarantees that your skin will look fabulous all year long.

Quinn @ Wilhelmina

Thursday, January 8th, 2009 | Make-up I like, Photo Shoot | No Comments

Here’s another shoot where I used Benefit ‘Some Kind of Gorgeous‘ foundation faker on the model’s skin.  If you’ve never tried this product you should run to your nearest Sephora and check it out.  It only comes in two shades: original and deep, and is so versatile that it blends with almost any skin tone.  The result is even skin with a soft, delicate powder finish.

At Least Your Eyes Don’t Look THIS Bad

Thursday, January 8th, 2009 | Beauty Tip, Friends, Skin Care | No Comments

Photo: Unknown – Sent directly to me from the victim.

This is Anton.  He accidentally got hit in the eye with a 2×4 a few months ago and it’s been drama ever since.  Now his eye is infected – The result of rolling around on a carpet in Vermont over the holidays, or something.  I’m not exactly sure since I wasn’t there. But, that’s what I’m told.

He’s now subjected to walking around with an unfortunate swollen eye.  Again.

This is an extreme case, but, the reality is that puffy, swollen eyes are the bane of many people’s existence.

Here are my top three eye creams to reduce all the puff:

MAC Fast Response Eye Cream:  People say too much caffeine is not good for you – But, that doesn’t hold true when the caffeine is in an eye cream!  This cream is packed with caffeine, which instantly acts to de-puff the eye area. Not a long term solution, but a fabulous quick fix.  Also provides a great base for eye make-up.

ROC Retinol Corrextion Eye Cream:  This is one of the best eye creams that you will find in the drug store, and I’ve found that it’s really effective if you use at night.  With regular use it decreases puffiness in 4 weeks, and also lessons the appearance of crows feet in 12 weeks.  A great long term treatment.

Preparation H:  Trust me.  This might actually be the best budget solution to puffy eyes that there is.  If it can shrink a hemorrhoid, then it can definitely stand up to a pair of puffy eyes.  I recommend the cream which isn’t greasy like the original formula.  You can also use this under your regular eye cream.

Not to Be Confused with a Marker

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 | Beauty Tip, Make-up I like | 1 Comment

Ever since I received this I’ve been obsessed.  I’ve even gotten my girlfriends obsessed.  Not that it was difficult to get them hooked on this product – It’s GENIUS.

Really, when I get to thinking about it…It seems so obvious.  I can’t imagine why no one came up with this before.  It just makes sense.

If you love a good liquid eyeliner like I do, then you will freak over this.

Stila Liquid eyeliner looks like a baby sharpie marker.  You know Sharpie, right?  They’re very common in offices.  Even artists use ‘em.  Sharpie is an icon in the world of markers.  And now it seems that Stila has it’s own icon in the world of liquid liner.

This product might as well be the love child of Sharpie and liquid liner.  It’s make-up perfection in a tiny little pen.  There is no ‘well’ to dip a brush in to,  and there is no flimsy brush to fuss with in order to create the perfect line.  This is about as easy as liquid liner gets.

Just shake the pen and it’s all good.  You don’t even have to pull on the eye (which you shouldn’t do anyway because it will give you OLD EYES).  Just run the tip along the lashline for a precise and even line – Every time.

For a thicker line I recommend working off the side of the tip.  For a thinner line I suggest only working with the point.

Bonus:  This creates an AMAZING cat eye a la Nicole Richie.  If you like how Nicole Richie rocks her eyeliner, then you’ll be thrilled to know that this small wonder makes her look super easy to replicate.

Cop it here.

New Year, Old Work: Another Lost Image

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009 | Music, Photo Shoot | 1 Comment

Here’s another image from the Santogold shoot back in April…

Remember? This is the shoot I got lost going to – Involving a near death experience that put me an inch away from an electric fence.  I hope you remember, because I certainly won’t ever forget it.

This image is straight from the photographer.  It’s one of his selects.

New Year, New Work: BLOC PARTY

Monday, January 5th, 2009 | Music, Personal, Photo Shoot | No Comments

These guys have been on my short list of people I would kill to work with ever since I saw them at Coachella back in 2006.

I literally (and very painstakingly) re-arranged my schedule in order to make myself available for this shoot, and I have absolutely no regrets about it.

They are lovely. Seriously.

I’m not just saying that because I LOVE ‘Silent Alarm‘ and it might be my favorite album, ever. Yes, ever.

They really were a pleasure.

This photo is now one of my favorites – Isn’t it AMAZING???
